The Art & Craft of Haibun Tuesday July 21st 2:00-4:00 PM CT

$0.00

This workshops explores the haibun, an ancient Japanese form fusing prose and haiku, popularized by Matsuo Bashō. We will read and discuss a wide range of haibun together before experimenting with the form as a vehicle for composing landscapes, tracing movement, and evoking “that sense of aware—the quality of certain objects to evoke longing, sadness, or immediate sympathy” (Nezhukumatathil, “More than the Birds, Bees, and Trees: A Closer Look at Writing Haibun”).
